I’ve been getting a few new bits and bobs for the house over the past couple of months in preparation for the HomeStyle Mag shoot last Saturday. The lovely Katie came all the way from Whitley Bay and we had a fun day of house faffing and taking photos. It was so lovely to meet someone so like-minded and so into interiors. The feature will be in the August issue, I’ll remind you when it’s out nearer the time.
Anyway I thought I’d compile a little haul to show you all the new bits. I’ll try and link everything below too 🙂
I fell in love with the stool the moment I saw it, the fur and the metallic pin legs, I knew it would be perfect for our bedroom. I’m aiming to keep our bedroom very soft, warm and calming so this stool is perfect, we’ve got quite a lot of empty space and it just goes perfectly next to the drawer unit. Also it’s such a bargain, I’ve seen some very similar for hundreds!! Granted this isn’t real fur but do we care?
The drawer unit is perfect for storing all my makeup, cosmetics, hair stuff, tampons and all that jazz. I like that it’s sort of vintage/modern and it’s not too deep it takes over your whole room. I will say though it’s not great quality but for the price it’s fine and it’s the perfect size for the space.
I got the mirror to go above it from the same place, it’s a lovely metal frame with a tray at the bottom to display your pretties (kicking myself for throwing away my empty Marc Jacobs bottles!). Can’t find it online anymore though sorry 😦
The frames above the bed are abstract art prints I purchased to download from etsy, by the artist Dan Hobday. I had them printed by a local printer (or you could do it yourself) and popped them in frames from Ikea. If you love art but can’t afford the real thing this is definitely a sneaky little tip. I love the colours of the prints, they compliment everything else in the room so well.
You may have seen on instagram my new botanical prints for the bathroom. There are so many gorgeous botanical prints around at the moment it took me about a month to pick. They’re from SlayMyPrint and they do so many lovely designs.
I picked up this footstool for £25!! Off ebay – gotta love ebay! It needs to be upholstered but already makes a big difference to the cosiness of the lounge, especially with the fur on top.
I got my new faux hydrangeas from Homesense, I always buy my faux flowers from here.
I’ve also got a new plant or two 🙂 I went to ikea… and I cannot walk past the plant department without picking one up and I got a Calla Lilly from The Greenery when I saw them at the Spring Market at The Walled Gardens.
And while we are on the subject of plants – I bought a Magnolia Tree for the Garden, they are all over instagram at the moment so couldn’t resist! Also, it was called Susan (my mums name) and we bought it on Mother’s Day! I was just meant to be!
I think that’ll do for now… hopefully I’ll have a garden to show you in my next home blog! Exciting! Summer is coming.
Lots of love, Emma.hellocake xxx
